Activities & Information

  • Lap Swim/Unit PT is available.
  • Priority is for swim qualifications and reserved unit trainings.
  • Depending on the needs of training, the pool will either be a short course (25m) or a long course (50m).
  • Reservations are required for Unit PT groups larger than 10 people.
  • 21 Area Pool is for patrons 18 years and up.

S3T (Swim Survival Skills Training) is available to Active-Duty Personnel free of charge.

Who provides the training?

MCCS Aquatics Coaches who are specifically trained in the program components.

Do I have to take the entire class?

Yes, but through discussion with the instructor, accommodations can be made on a case-by-case basis.

Will equipment be provided?

We are currently exploring avenues to fund equipment and will hopefully be able to provide the proper equipment in the future. Blouse and trousers will, however, be required.

Will the class schedule be flexible?

Yes, we will try to be as accommodating as possible. Classes are 1 hour long (estimated).

Can I take the Swim Survival Skills Training (S3T) to prepare for any aquatic school?

Yes, if you find the class helpful for your specific training, Swim Survival Skills Training (S3T) is designed to increase aquatic stamina.

If I am in the Navy, can I take the Swim Survival Skills Training (S3T)?

Yes. Swim Survival Skills Training (S3T) is available for all active duty, but is designed for Marine Corps Swim Qualifications.

Can I take the Swim Survival Skills Training (S3T) if I am not going for swim qualification?

Yes, classes are designed to help teach active duty personnel better swimming mechanics in general as well as the swim qualification.

Can I do bottom samples and underwater crossovers with this training?

No, that is specific training where a Marine Corps Instructor of Water Survival (MCIWS) is required to be present.

Admittance

  • An I.D. card is required for admittance to the pool facility. 
  • An adult must accompany children under the age of 10 at all times. Children under the age of 10 will not be left at the pool facility without an adult.

  • All patrons must comply with the directions and signals of Lifeguards and/or Lifeguard Supervisor.
  • Patrons must take a cleansing shower prior to entering the pool.
  • No persons with sores, skin diseases, or bandages will be permitted in the pool.
  • Spitting, urinating, or otherwise contaminating the pool or walkways is prohibited.
  • Eating or drinking within the pool facility is permitted in designated areas only.
  • Glass in any form will not be permitted at the pool facility.
  • Smoking or Vaping in the pool or on the pool deck is prohibited.
  • No pets are allowed in pool area. (A guide dog escorting a blind person will be permitted on the pool deck and in restrooms. Also, working dogs accompanied by handlers will be permitted in swimming pool area as required.) 
  • Boisterous or rough play is not permitted in the pool area.
  • Non-swimmers are permitted in shallow area only.
  • Diving is permitted in designated areas only.
  • No fraternizing with Lifeguards.
  • Climbing on Lifeguard towers or using lifesaving equipment for other than emergency use is strictly prohibited.
  • Emergency Procedures: When emergency procedures are implemented, swimmers must exit the pool immediately upon signal or request by the lifeguard.
  • Pool toys are provided by the facility, any additional toys are subject to approval by pool management.
  • Rafts, air mattresses, noodle, or flotation devices that could easily become detached from the user are prohibited during recreation swim. United States Coast Guard approved lifejackets, floatation belts, and etc. are authorized in the shallow end only.
  • Kickboards and other like items shall only be used for lap swimming, fitness training, and swim instruction.
  • Breath-holding or the practice of hyperventilation is strictly prohibited while in the pool.
  • Proper swimming attire only. Boots and full combat load will not be permitted.
  • No tanning oils permitted.
  • Marine Combat Instruction of Water Safety, Unit Training will be referred to 43, 62, or 51 Area Pools due to lack of capability, instructors, and safety structure. Unit training and the combat uniform with full combat load will not be permitted.

 
Items Not Allowed in the Pool Area

  • Alcoholic beverages
  • Infant walkers, glass containers, pets, and any other item deemed unsafe by the lifeguards 
  • No radios other than a device that may be connected to headphones will be allowed in the facility.
  • Built-in floatation devices within swimsuits, water wings, noodles, and innertubes will not be permitted. Only Coast Guard-approved life vests will be allowed.
  • No weight belts allowed in the pool
  • Snorkels will not be permitted for recreation swim.
  • No hard or inflexible toys (i.e. torpedoes, regulation football, plastic frisbees) will be allowed in the facility.

100-Mile Swim Club

The Challenge:

Swim 100 Miles at 13 Area Pool or 21 Area CTT in the 2026 calendar year!

  • Log miles/laps at the check in table.
  • Receive a FREE Finisher T-shirt (1 per year) with completion of 100 Miles!
  • Registration is ongoing – Ask a staff member today!
  • New! Finishers of their 3rd Year will get a finisher towel.

For 2025 Participants:

  • In order to participate in 2026 please re-register.
  • All mileage from 2025 will not count toward 2026.
