The Family Member Travel Screening (FMTS) Cell helps Marines and their families navigate required screening for overseas and remote continental United States (CONUS) assignments. FMTS provides assistance throughout the process, improves visibility into screening status, and helps address issues that could delay a move.

Moving to an overseas or remote CONUS location can involve a complex family member travel screening process. The FMTS Cell is available to help Marines, family members, commands, and monitors understand requirements, stay informed, and complete required actions as early as possible.

FMTS Support
The FMTS Cell provides support throughout the screening process by:

  • Explaining screening requirements and expected next steps.
  • Connecting Marines and families with the appropriate medical screening office.
  • Providing assistance to support timely initiation and completion of screening.
  • Helping address issues or delays involving medical screening offices.
  • Improving visibility of screening status for Marines, family members, monitors, and commands.
  • Connecting Marines and families with resources in their gaining overseas or remote CONUS community.

For Marines and Family Members
Engage with FMTS as soon as possible after receiving assignment notification. Early engagement can help you understand requirements, identify potential issues, and reduce avoidable delays.

Contact FMTS if you are unsure where to begin, need help connecting with the appropriate screening office, or encounter an issue during the screening process.

For Commands and Monitors
Remind Marines and families to start screening early and reach out to FMTS if they have questions or face challenges. Working together with the Marine, family, medical screening office, monitor, command, and FMTS Cell helps spot issues early and keeps the process on track.

Start early. Stay engaged. Use FMTS support throughout the screening process.

If you are not sure how to start, contact the FMTS Cell by email at smb_hqmc_fmts@usmc.mil.
