Honoring Our Exceptional Child and Youth Program Nurses

Honoring Our Exceptional Child and Youth Program Nurses

As we celebrate National Nurses Day on May 6, we take this opportunity to honor the remarkable contributions of our dedicated Child and Youth Programs (CYP) nurses. Their tireless efforts ensure the health and well-being of the children and youth in our care, providing a foundation for growth and development in a safe and nurturing environment.

Our CYP nurses oversee all health support services within our programs. They coordinate and provide specialized training for staff members who care for children and youth with more complex health care needs. This essential training equips our staff with the knowledge and skills needed to address various health challenges and ensure the best possible care for every child.

In addition to staff training, our CYP nurses play a pivotal role in educating providers, volunteers, and parents on health-related topics. Their expertise helps create a community of well-informed caregivers who can support the holistic development of our children and youth.

Maintaining appropriate standards for health and sanitation is another critical aspect of our CYP nurses’ role. They work diligently to support our facilities and family child care homes in meeting these standards, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for all.

As the primary liaison between our child and youth programs and the installation community health nurse, our CYP nurses foster collaboration and communication. They engage with trainers, environmental health staff, schools, and physicians to clarify roles and coordinate health support services. This collaborative approach enhances the overall effectiveness of our programs and ensures that every child receives comprehensive care.

On this National Nurses Day, the Marine Corps extends its heartfelt gratitude to our CYP Nurses for their unwavering dedication and exceptional service. Their contributions are invaluable, and their commitment to excellence makes a difference in the lives of children and youth daily.
