Grab your suit and join us for a summer swim challenge in the Harbor of Del Mar Beach with a start/finish at Kid's Cove. The 1-mile course is a two-lap loop that has you exit the water, run around a beach flag, and re-enter for your final lap.
Turn your pool swimming skills into open-water fun while you experience a calm, open-water swim; choose your distance and conquer the course of your choice!
WHO
Now open to EVERYONE with the following stipulations:
- Those without base access must arrange to be escorted in on race morning by an authorized base patron.
- Please do not register for the run unless this requirement has been coordinated. Patrons who do not make arrangements to enter Camp Pendleton will be turned away and no refund will be issued.

Online pre-registration is recommended.
Registration opens May 23 at 9:00am.

AWARDS
The 1-mile distance swim is our competitive race with awards presented to the 1st – 3rd overall male/female swimmers across the line.
The ½-mile distance swim is non-competitive with no awards. Swimming for fun!
GOODY BAG
All participants will receive a "Grab 'n Go" goody bag at the finish line filled with sponsor and Semper Fit giveaway items.
SCHEDULE
8:00am – Check-In and Venue Opens
9:00am – Start - ½-mile Swim
9:20am – Start - 1-mile Swim
9:00am – Start - ½-mile Swim
9:20am – Start - 1-mile Swim
DIRECTIONS
I-5 North to Camp Pendleton exit or I-5 South to Vandergrift/Harbor Drive exit then LEFT.
Enter the Camp Pendleton main gate in the far-right lane.
Take the first exit to Wire Mountain Road.
Stay to the right to head west on Wire Mountain Road.
Left turn at 12th Street.
Once you reach the beach, follow the "Event Parking" signs.
RULES
- Participants will be provided a silicone swim cap. The provided cap must be worn (allergy exceptions).
- 13+ age limit (1-mile)
- 9+ age limit (½-mile)
- No swim headphones/earbuds allowed.
- No fins allowed.
- The event is held rain or shine (unless deemed unsafe) Pendleton Races has the right to modify the course if necessary for safety or base training exercises.
- The swim course closes at 10:20.
- Please note: The swim is held in the calm waters of the harbor. However, wind and tides may affect the conditions.
