Building Connectedness Through Collaboration and the Great Outdoors

Did you know that social connections affect your overall health and wellness?

Individuals that have meaningful connections with others tend to have stronger immune systems, less inflammation and are at lower risk for heart disease. Participating in team sports can improve social skills, positively impacting both social and mental health. Research shows that adults who regularly participate in some kind of team sport are less likely to experience symptoms of depression, anxiety, or stress.

People around the world who share common social factors tend to live longer than the world average, which can be attributed to having a sense of belonging. Some other characteristics are putting loved ones first and spending quality time with their children. Those who experience lower social support increase their risk of death to the same extent as smoking 15 cigarettes a day or being an alcoholic.

Explore the great outdoors. Whether alone, with friends, or with family, experts agree that spending as little as 10 minutes in nature daily can improve moods, focus, and overall well-being.
