The Transition Readiness Program (TRP) ensures that Marines are prepared for their transition from military to civilian life and provides Marines and their families with the tools and resources needed to pursue the Department of Defense directed Career Readiness Standards.

Transition 365 is Here! Are you ready for Change?

TRS is currently a week-long program required by Title 10 for all Active Duty and Reserve Marines who have served a minimum of 180 consecutive days on Active Duty. Currently, Marines are encouraged to begin TRS within 12-14 months of their EAS or within 24 months of their retirement, but no later than 180 days from EAS or Retirement (per MCO 1700.31).

USMC Transition Process Changes as of October 1, 2019, the process will include:
The updated transition process will be more tailored to post-separation goals, and Marines will be required to start the process earlier to develop a smoother transition to civilian life.

Initial Counseling requirement – No later than 365 days from EAS
Updated required training during TRS – No later than 180 days from EAS

Workshops/Classes

Beginning 1 October 2019, the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) will require completion of an Initial Counseling and the Pre-Separation Counseling brief PRIOR to attending TRS. Retirees may attend these components up to 24 months prior to EAS but must do so no later than 12 months from EAS. Separatees may complete the components up to 18 months prior to EAS but must do so no later than 12 months from EAS.

Attendees will discuss their transitional goals, receive relevant resource referral, and review options for supplemental workshops and training. Initial counseling must be completed prior to the Pre-Separation Counseling Brief. You must register for Initial Counseling via EventBrite.

Pre-work must be completed prior to your Initial Counseling. Instructions can be found here:
